Why is CASA so Important?

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. It is a volunteer based non-profit organization serving El Paso and Teller County giving children who have been abused, neglected, or suffered from domestic violence a voice in the court system. ...Read More When a CASA is assigned to a case, they speak for the child and go in front of the judge to explain what they have observed with the child and give recommendations in the best interest of the child. The CASA will visit the home to see living conditions and how the child is being taken care of. The CASA will also visit with the child while they are in Foster Care to help ensure that child is in an environment where he or she can thrive.

The CASA is always looking out for the best interest of the child. By being very involved in the child’s life they are able to appropriately determine what should be done. Each CASA is generally only assigned one case, so they are able to focus on that case and give their all.
